Why did you choose that charity?

This Charity aims at training volunteers to become mentors to children with behavioural difficulties in London. The things they achieve are amazing and the results that are gained show this, from the children becoming more confident, to them achieveing more at school. I decided to volunteer with this charity as i have the time to give to someone who could benefit from it, and a big love for children!

What did you do?

So far i have completed 18 hours of training and an interview and have been selected as having the qualities to be a mentor. At the moment i am currently being matched with a child, but am eagerly waiting to be able to mentor once a week. Once i become a mentor, you are given a small budget of £30 a month, and you see the child once a week so a good imagination is essential! Think, cinema, ice skating, park trips, scrap books, photography, dance routines, board games..the possibilites are endless!

Why should someone else volunteer with them?

EVerything about this project takes hard wotk and dedication right from the begining of the training but the imapct you could potentially make on a troubled childs life is invaluable. Although you are warned there will be difficult days, this is totally overruled by the fun you can have, and the difference you'll make to a childs life.
