Mersey Basin
How To Get Involved?
The network of action partnerships covers a large part of the Mersey Basin Campaign territory, from Action Weaver Valley in Cheshire in the south, to Action Ribble Estuary in Lancashire in the north, and from Action Etherow & Goyt in Derbyshire to the east and Action Mersey Estuary in Merseyside to the west. The partnerships vary in scale according to the needs of the local watercourses. Working together is central to the role of the action partnerships. If you, or your organisation, would like to get involved in improving your local stream, river or canal please contact your nearest action partnership: If you're not sure which partnership to contact, please get in touch with our Community Support Coordinator, Bev Mitchell on 0161 242 8212 or b.mitchell@merseybasin.org.uk
Mission Statement/Purpose
The Campaign’s mission is to: • Improve water quality so that all rivers, streams and waters in the Mersey and Ribble catchments are clean enough to support fish by 2010. • Encourage waterside regeneration. • Actively engage the public, private, community and voluntary sectors in the process.
Charity Profile
The Mersey Basin Campaign works within the catchments of the River Mersey and River Ribble, in the counties of Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Much of their work is to repair the damage done to the region's rivers by industrialisation and to foster a future that is modern and prosperous with an improved environment.
